Process steps of the BGTB bottle boring process

The BGTB bottle boring technology combines the sophisticated technology and economy of BTA deep drilling with the precision and versatility of modern CNC technology. The BGTB system is designed so that it can be used on a modern CNC deep drilling or lathe. The inner contour can then be completed in one setup, starting, for example, from solid drilling.
I. Generation of a pilot hole by solid drilling

II. Counterboring for better hole quality
III. Bottle boring with cut division using the short chamber method
IV. Completing with finishing cut

Modes of operation of the BGTB driving unit

The driving unit enables the BGTB bottle boring tools to be controlled as a fully NC axis. The driving unit can remain permanently on the machine and, in addition to the traversing movement, serves as centering and support for the special boring bar.

Process steps of the BGTB multi-cutter pull counterboring

Pilot hole guided, hydraulic activated multi-cutter pull counterboring tools are a combination of hydraulically activated For Runnerswith large adjustment ranges and attachable multi-cutter stars with adjustment mechanism (VMST).
By using precision-ground BGTB indexable inserts, these tools can be re-equipped directly on the machine. Up to a diameter of approx. 400 mm, the cutter stars in the lantern are placed on the For Runner (HKS). For larger diameters, tools are available that are controlled completely hydraulically.
I. Moving through the pipe in the retracted status

II. Assembly of the cutter star and extension of the hydraulic pads in the workpiece
III. From HKS-I-H, hydraulically extendable cutter holders, no disassembly and assembly required
IV. Pull counterboring operation with guiding in the pilot hole
